I have never been able to figure out why this character was called 'Pooh'. Did Pooh not mean the same thing 100 years ago?
I would not be able to get a way with a book called Jerry the Fart, or LaLa the Burp - so how come we are all cool with winnie the Pooh!?
Thanks for answers. The story goes that when Milne's son, Christopher (the "Christopher Robin" of the books) was very young, they used to visit London Zoo, which had a black bear called Winnipeg. When Christopher was given a teddy bear as a gift, he alikened it to "Winnie at the zoo", but in toddler-speak this came out as "Winnie-the-Pooh".i don't know
I don't know what Pooh meant when the book was written but I do know that meanings change over time.
A hundred + years ago, the term "making love" meant nothing more than verbal flirting.
Look at the word "gay" Even in my lifetime, it used to mean happy and it was a diminutive of the the name Gabrielle. My aunt Gabrielle ws always called Gay.Now of course it means something much different. It's been hi-jacked, so to speak.that kid christopher robin was obviously a disturbed child for naming him after faeces.I don't know, but I am hoping my new character Curtis the C*nt will really take off!LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLLOLOLOL
at the first answer!
i think it wasn't meant to be rude
