One Athiest here said don't lump us all together because we are all different..OKAY Wouldn't that be the same for Christians, what binds me to other Christian people is our faith and love in Jesus Christ, and knowing that everyone in this world is a sinner and Jesus can reedeem ALL.
Of course we all try to live on the path that Jesus commands but everyone has a unique personality Chirstians are no different. I happen to be a very blunt individual not afraid of controversy or what is Politically Correct and am Ultra Conservative, haven't always thought that way as I use to be a Free Spirit Liberal and I know that type of life does not work for the majority.as it brings total complacency with people that are accountable for *nada* and have a attitude of *What's in it for me* We are here to serve GOD... GOD is not here to serve us.
So what is your definition of *What is a Chirstian*Well, according to your old posts -- when your name was 'Marie O' -- you certainly are not a good example of a Christian.
You bashed and harassed gay people in the LGBT board for months, you lied more than once (i.e., the gay father-in-law, the lesbian friend wanting to adopt, etc. . . )
And daily you try to inflict your warped view of the world on the rest of us.
Is that what a Christian is?People should be able to see Jesus in us - ALL of Him, including the "mean & wild" side. (You have to read the book to understand what that means. Jesus was NEVER hateful or vindictive, but He did display righteous anger from time to time.) We walk in love, forgiveness, & mercy - NOT judgment. Judgment is reserved for God alone. We witness to others / plant the seed of Truth, but we don't beat people over the head with our bibles to try to force them to accept the Truth. It is up to them. We have a RELATIONSHIP with God - not "religious behavior". We are NOT doormats, but we are also not to intentionally offend others! We have the power of God in us! We are perfect "in Christ", but that doesn't mean our behavior is perfect. We are led by the Holy Spirit - not by our feelings. We are human, we make mistakes, but we are forgiven when we repent. We love the sinner and hate the sin. We know who we are "in Christ", so we strive to be God-pleasers, not people pleasers. We have a servant heart attitude - that doesn't mean we are slaves to everybody else - it means our attitude is one of "what can I do to bless someone today - even if I don't think they deserve it?"Why can't Christians spell? I mean, can you at LEAST spell Christian you Little House on the Praire bore monger?A Christian is someone who follows the teachings of Christ. I really could care less if someone is considered a "Good Christian" or a "Bad Christian". As long as they profess a belief in Jesus, I'll take their word for it.
My problem with you, isn't that you are a Christian or that you're an ultra conservative. It's that when you answer my questions you merely copy paste your answer and fail to even cite your source.Agreed.
If you believe in something, and want to share it - more power to you. There will always be naysayers, but if you think you have the truth, then by all means, stand by it.
I don't believe in it - but I will defend your right to do so. Report Abuse
A Christian is simply a believer in the one true God and Father , and Jesus Christ his son and our salvation, beyond that we are all individuals with our own purpose in life. No one or no group should ever be lumped together as a collective it. We saw what happend when the Nazi's did that. All men our idividuals and free to bee them selves and follow their own calling. And nomatter what anyones thoughts or opinions are when the day comes we as an individual will stand before the Father and Son in judgement. Free Will because only we have to answer for our selves.How should a Christian act? I have the following Scripture hanging on one of the walls of my office -- directly at eye level in case I forget in times of impatience:
Romans 9:9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. 10 Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; 11 not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; 12 rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; 13 distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality. 14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. 16 Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion. 17 Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. 18 If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. 19 Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, Vengeance is Mine, I will repay, says the Lord. 20 Therefore
If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
If he is thirsty, give him a drink;
For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.
21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
This is Paul's definition of the way a Christian should act. Would some people characterize this as being a "doormat"? Sure! Would I care if someone called me this? No. Do I *always* behave this way? No, but I try hard each day.My definition of a christian is a person who actually studies the bible and follows Jesus with thier heart.Because in our society Christians are pushovers and allow people to distroy our religion. We dont speak out or we dont fight for our beliefs. We just do everything in quiet that is good and when we do one thing wrong people make a huge deal out of it! Like we cant make mistakes eather. And then so that they dont make a big deal out of us standing up foor ourselves we shutup and take our punishment. We are pushovers but on here were not. We cant be fully judged on here but in the real world we can.a follower of Christ & His ways..God blessA lot of things don't add up in teaching the Bible and in the rites during the service. Religious leaders know that masses of people are much more easily intimidated than individuals which is why they want you to attend every week with an open mind and heart (be a door mat). The expectation of the "door mat" believer is the most common form of opening up the mind of the skeptic to get them to believe in things that their life experience and common sense tell them not to believe. They know you want to belong and be accepted by them, so the "door mat" expectation and your compliance with it, is their way of getting you to enable them to get you to believe what they believe and deny your own beliefs.I agree with You: I was going to place my Reply,untill I read
Yours,I couldn"t state it any Better..Good point - making generalized statements like 'all atheists/christians are/believe/do etc.' are pointless and inaccurate.
Plus - people need to realize that there are large number of people claming to be 'christian' or 'atheist' on here that are actually just trolls - and are posting inflammatory stuff to elicit reactions.
Noone expects you to be a doormat (well, noone that matters anyway), but as far as I'm concerned - if you are really a christian, you probably have better things to do than waste your time on Yahoo! answers, where most people have already made up their minds, and are just trying to find other people who agree with them.There's a difference between not being a doormat and having all the tact of a semi plowing through a market square.
There are Christians on this forum who present their side and stick to their guns, and have earned respect here. Father K would be an example of this.#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
