What exactly is Britain?

  • GREAT Britain to you!

  • tis a land of greatness!!


  • It can mean many things.

    To the Romans it was that part of an island now occupied by England and Wales. What is now Scotland was to the Romans Caledonia, and they called Ireland Hibernia.

    Because of this if one wants to include Scotland some refer to "Great Britain" as in encompassing the entire island.

    The country now occupying it is called the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, or the United Kingdom for short. This shows that "Great Britain" includes England, Wales and Scotland.

    All the rest is fluff.

  • Britain is a very proud country that has withstood numerous attempts to destroy it. She has suffered wars, pestilence, plagues, Margaret Thatcher and is still holding her head up and fighting off the last crisis inflicted on us by Gordon Brown and his not very merry men.
