I have a blue male parakeet and it appears to be very sick for about two months already.SYMPTOMS: always sleeping, all fluffed up, losing feathers at place where waste comes out. Eats pretty well but before it used to be very active and always chirping.Right now its all quiet. What may be the problem and how can I cure him?Hello -- Your bird needs to see an avian vet. To reiterate what others have said, it really isn't fair to an animal for a person to adopt him without being able to care for him. Caring for him includes medical care.
Btw, and avian vet is more knowledgable than a regular vet. We have a vet for our dogs, and I have found a different vet, and avian vet, for our parakeet.
I hope that he recovers. Please take your bird to a vet to get examined. Those symptoms are all a sign of illness. Your vet will know what is wrong and will hopefully be able to treat the bird. It would have been better to have taken the bird to the vet when you first noticed the symptoms, because birds tend to hide their illnesses until its too late. I hope it's not too late for your parakeet. If you can't afford a vet, don't get an animal that you may have to take there for proper care. It's entirely unfair to the bird that you got him knowing if anything went wrong that you can't take care of him. He needs an avian vet and is showing signs that he is most likely going to die. When those symptoms start showing in birds it is normally too late - as birds hide symptoms in the wild to survive. Especially with so small a bird. could be mites, could be just a cold.birds hide their true sickness to deter predators.i recommend getting professional help.keep him warm, that will help.it may be a cold.don't let any drafts reach the cage.
IF YOU CANT AFFFORD A VET,TRY CALLING THEM AND ASKING FOR ADVICE.OR CALLED SOMEONE WHO MIGHT KNOW ABOUT BIRDS(PET STORE OWNER)Parakeets can get sick easily from a wide variety of things. Get your parakeet to the vet today if possible. Its been sick for two months. Dont let it suffer anymore. Get him seen by a vet a.s.a.p. You cant cure him, a vet can.It could be so many things, maybe a cold? You really should get it to a vet, now. It sounds like its suffering. The vet can give it medicine before its too late. I really hope you do take it to a vet, because you know it will die if you don't. Thats just the harsh reality.#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
