Violin fingerboard came off?

  • I accidentally dropped my violin and when I picked it up, I noticed that part of the fingerboard isn't glued on to the neck anymore. Only the top part is. Is this a major damage or can it easily be fixed? And around how much will it cost?

Also, I still played it even though it was like that. Will that add to the damage?

  • The finger board is attached with a glue that breaks easily. This is so that the fingerboard can be replaced if it grooves or is damaged.
It is a simple repair and should not cost much. I have replaced fingerboards before on cheap violins just using Elmer's white glue. The main thing is to make sure that it lines up perfectly.
Playing it without repair is not major, but I do not recommend it.
