toyota prius battery pack research

  • Can you research as much information on the toyota prius battery pack as possible. i need general information concerning the high voltage conductors, and their current rating, and temperature ratings for the pack and the batteries itself, and MAX recharge rates, and some methods to recharge the pack as a whole, and come considerations when recharging the battery pack. i also what to know the general components on the battery pack, and what everything is on the pack. for example how the cooling system functions. Any other general information on the prius pack would also help. thanks a lot for your time.

  • Oh, and there is this link : National Renewable Energy Laboratory: Battery Usage and Thermal Performance of the Toyota Prius and Honda Insight for Various Chassis Dynamometer Test Procedures [ http://www.afdc.doe.gov/pdfs/bat_thermal.pdf ] Looks pretty technical to me, don't know if this will be of use to you. SAE (Society of Automobile Engineering) has a number of websites and stuty papers. These are available for a price, you can download them or order them hard-copy by mail. I'm again not sure what these documents have for you since I could not access them without paying for it. • i think that's about right for the prius pack info. what can you tell me about recharging battery packs. specificly pack's like the prius pack that are composed of several strings of smaller voltage batteries. Do all of them charge equally when you charge up the pack as a whole. what dangers should i take into concideration when charging at high current, and can you tell me different ways or the best way to go about recharging the pack up. thanks for your time

  • Hi, I found the following: Prius Tech Specs - engine, ignition, motor & generator & engine control with soem schematics. URL [ http://www.electrifyingtimes.com/priustechspecs.html ] From Toyota.com specifications [ http://www.toyota.com/html/shop/vehicles/prius/specs/prius_specs.html } "Battery type: Sealed Nickel-Metal Hydride (Ni-MH)2 Output: 273.6 V (228 1.2-V cells) Hybrid vehicle battery expected life is 150,000 miles based on laboratory bench testing." From a review in the Australian: [ http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5744,3342146%255E13232,00.html ] "Capacity: 6.5 amp hours" The Australian ALLDATA seems like an amazing site for both the professional and the DIY. I checked them out online ; they provide a 'preview'. It just blew my mind. It does cost some money, but it may as well be worth it. [ http://www.alldata.com/products/index.html ] You can email them about your specific requirement and see if you can get them to charge you only for the info provided. Here is the extensive contact info page: [ http://www.alldata.com/contact/index.html ] Something that may or may not be of immediate use to you: Bulletins for 2002 Toyota Prius L4-1497cc 1.5L DOHC (Hybrid) MFI URL [ http://www.alldata.com/TSB/59/025983AI.html ] 1996-2002 ALLDATA LLC. Repair Manuals and other stuff from Toyota [ https://www.toyotapartsnow.com/Catalog/Accessories.asp?Model=Prius ] This is a FAQ from Toshiba. There is some info on the battery - charging, recycling, etc., although it does not seem like there's too much here. [ http://www.prius.toyota.com.au/Prius/Information/Faqs/0,1574,5-9,00.html ] AUTOSPEED - Review of the Prius - A good deal of information on the working of the Prius: [ http://www.autospeed.com/A_1450/page1.html ] 1998 - 2002 Web Publications Pty Limited Is this enough to qualify as an answer? I will be looking for more information anyway. If I find something more relevant than the above links, I will post it here. All in all, I think the ALLDATA site is amazing. Do check it out! warm regards vinods

  • Hi, Sorry, I could not find any more relevant information. I believe ALLDATA [ http://www.alldata.com/products/index.html ] is a very good place for you to consult. If you are okay with accepting whatever I have posted as an answer, I shall put it up. warm regards vinods-ga
