Hi, I'm managing a website for a friend and he is now interested in running vbulletin instead of phpnuke (phpbb2). He is hesitant at doing the move since he don't want to loose clients accounts, forums and posts. I know you have importers but what I want to know is do you have any waranty that the importation will works ??? My friend want to know if he buy a owned licence and try to import is data but nothing is working can we get a refund or something ????? He's very interested in upgrading to vbulletin 3 but not if it's mean losing data and restart the forum from scratch..
Thanks.....I'm mostly sure that it's going to work but my friend who doesn't know much about website, DB, etc and he was't sure and affaraid of the convertion not working. Now I'm sure he will give it a try cause I know that vbulletin is great and it's why I told him to make the move :)The import scripts are designed to work with the default database and cannot be expected to import all the data from hacks. For this you will need to write a custom script. You can try asking for thelp with this over at vbulletin.org.Just remember the importers for vB3 aren't released yet...nor do we know when they are going to be released.

Or he can ask us and we will issue a refund. Usually the route that doesn't require us to increase our prices to pay for chargebacks.Well i took the plunge and got another vb licience for the phpbb board that i was going to replace and installed ver. 2.3.5 ran the importer from that and upgraded to gold after and it went very smoothly with a few minor details not imported but the main ones are intact so i am more than happy with the way it handled the data.
Now all that remains is to get it styled up the way i want it.There shouldn't be any problems unless there are tons of hacks installed on the phpBB forum.
This is what is concerning me from getting another licience as the phpbb that i will be converting has well over 300 hacks installed on it and i dont want to lose any of the data.I installed vBulletin 2.x, used the phpBB2 importer, then upgraded to vBulletin 3.0 and it all worked perfect. There shouldn't be any problems unless there are tons of hacks installed on the phpBB forum.#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
