well my husky pup (4 months) sometimes sniffs my ear then licks it (eww..i knooo!!!) and sometimes she nipples/nips it... it doesn't hurt but i was told that ear biting is dominant....is this true or is it just affection??? That's affection.
The dominant theory is bunk. It's been disproven. Out datedYour pup is just playing with you. A nip is to get your attention.
But you do have a dominant breed and you are wise to watch for signs of it asserting dominants...A lot of problems can be avoided by catching the first signs and preventing it from escilating into a full problem.
Good Luck with your puppy, enjoy it and love it to pieces.both....more affection...
when puppies play with each other, they will go after each others ears or legs..its a sensitive spot..i have 3 huskies, all from puppies... it depends on what you allow to the to do, i also have four ferrets and you have to show dominance to them or they will walk all over you... aggression can't be determined at 4 months of age... wait til about 8 or 9 months when they start humping you or staring you down to make you do what they want you to do... dominance can lead to aggression so break she needs to be broken of any bad habits early as do any animals... as well as children. I believe it is more of affection. Aggression is born from anxiety and fear. Something unfamiliar appears--be it an object, person, or other animal--and your dog interprets it as threatening.
im not sure but i know that if a dog puts its head over anothers front shoulders thats dominancy, to show your dog who's boss make sure that you go through doors first, eat and then give them their meal etc
if it was being dominant then it would give a little pain when biting your ear, its probably just mouthing, teach her not to by growling and ignoring her and if she keeps going grab her scruff(DONT LIFT) and give a litle shake and stare her in the eyes( this is what mumma dog does to teach pup not to bite.
if this doesnt work then slightly squeeze the pups muzzle, stop when it whines
i know this sounds slack but it gets the message through and anyway when mum grabs them by the scruff and shakes she doesnt it with her teeth so a hand wont be cruel No, she's just playing.Awwwwwwwww, I think it's sweet, and it's just affection. Its hard to say...it a very doggy behavior to clean the packs ears. Its the one place that they cannot reach on each other....they do it to the pack leader and to each other...and the pack leader will do it to its followers. My dog is not dominant or aggressive and he licks my ears. But if you think he maybe showing aggressiveness or dominance then maybe you shouldn't let your dogie do this to you. Huskies grow up fast to be big doggies and you wouldn't want to deal with bad behavior problems.
