How do you handle a 'lazy' Google Answer rating?

  • Previously a question was asked at: https://answers.google.com/answers/main?cmd=threadview&id=99169 A pretty good comment followed almost immediately. I was pleased as this was looking good towards getting the answer that I was looking for. Then some time went by... all was quiet... and along came a'lazy answer' that was far inferior to the earlier posted comment. Now I am asked to post a rating! and the question wasn't even fully answered. Researchers 500- I would appreciate your brief comments (and of course a GREAT answer) on how to handle this dilema.

  • Hi brudenell~ You must be frustrated! However, I think the set up of Google Answers gives you an excellent chance at a better answer. Before giving an answer "poor marks," it's wise to first let the researcher know you aren't entirely pleased. Post a clarification to your original question, asking them to be more specific, or pointing out that they didn't cover the question thoroughly. (And, of course, be as specific as you can, since this will the researcher to better answer the question.) Hopefully, a second chance will be all they need to more completely answer your question. If not, then you can tackle rating them accordingly. If you truly feel the answer didn't hit the mark, you should rate it accordingly. So that the researcher can learn and do a better job next time, state briefly why you are giving a lower rating (the original question wasn't answered completely, the links were too general...whatever the case might be). I hope this helps! kriswrite

  • Good evening kriswrite-ga Thank you for your reply. Your perception was correct...Yes indeed I was frustrated. I am just learning about the GA process. I did go back and request a clarrification- please see the following: ____________________________________________________________________________ Subject: Re: World's Largest Pumpkins Answered By: morningstar2000-ga on 08 Nov 2002 15:33 PST Dear Brudenell - What a great Halloween question. Clarification of Answer by morningstar2000-ga on 10 Nov 2002 16:15 PST Dear Brudenell - Thank you for finally giving me the opportunity to clarify my answer. There are a few things I need to advise you of. First off unless a person specifically has a website or other information listed with seeds for sale I am not authorized to give you their contact information. I have not found that any of the top 110 world record holders have those sites. Not that they don’t exist they just don’t advertise them. I have listed the winners below as they were found on the website I gave you. I did not originally list them out individually because of the price of the your question. 1979 Howard Dill Windsor, NS 438.5 *1980 Howard Dill Windsor, NS 459.0 *1981 Howard Dill Windsor, NS 493.5 1982 Howard Dill Windsor, NS 445.0 1983 Owen Woodman Falmouth, NS 481.0 *1984 Norm Gallagher Chelan, WA 612.0 1985 Michael Hodgson River Philip, NS 531.0 *1986 Bob Gancarz Wrightstown, NJ 671.0 1987 Don Fleming Morrisville, VT 604.5 1988 Keith Chappell Upper Granville, NS 633.0 *1989 Gordon Thomson Hemmingford, PQ 755.0 *1990 Ed Gancarz Wrightstown, NJ 816.5 1991 Waterman/Ogunbuyi Collins, NY 780.5 *1992 Joel Holland Puyallup, WA 827.0 *1993 Donald Black Winthrop, NY 884.0 *1994 Herman Bax Brockville, ON 990.0 1995 Paula Zehr Lowville, NY 968.0 1996 Bill Greer Picton, Canada 1006.0lbs Current top 110 world record pumkin holders Pounds KGS 1 1337.60 606.72 Charlie Houghton New Boston NH USA 2002 2 1262 572.43 Geneva Emmons Issaquah WA USA 2001 3 1260.40 571.70 Craig Weir Salisbury MA USA 2001 4 1230 557.91 Steve Daletas Pleasnt Hill OR USA 2001 5 1215 551.11 Ben Hebb Windsor NS Canda 2002 6 1186.40 538.13 Bruce Whittier Topsfield HN USA 2002 7 1178 534.32 Rock Rivard Gentilly QB Canada2002 8 1177.60 534.14 Jim Kuhn Topsfield NH USA 2002 9 1173 532 6 Kirk Mombert Harrisburg OR USA 2002 10 1172 531.60 Bill Greer Ottawa ON Canada2002 11 1167 529.33 Paul Handy Vancouver WA USA 2001 12 1156 524.35 David Larsen Canby OR USA 2002 13 1153 522.98 Al Eaton Richmond ON Canada2001 14 1144 518.90 Geneva Emmons Issaquah WA USA 2001 15 1140 517 9 Dave Stelts Leetonia OH USA 2000 16 1131 513 1 Gerry Checkon Spangler PA USA 99 17 1112.50 504.61 Steve Handy Canby WA USA 2002 18 1111 503.93 Geneva Emmons Issaquah WA USA 2001 19 1109 503 3 Todd Skinner OH USA 2000 20 1105 501.21 Greg Stucker Elk Grove CA USA 2002 21 1101 499.40 Jake Van Kooten Port Alberini BC Canada2002 22 1097.60 497.86 Tony Ciliberto Wilkes-Barre PA USA 2002 23 1097 497.58 Kirk Mombert Harrisburg OR USA 2001 24 1096.80 497.49 Joe Pukos Leicester NY USA 2000 25 1096 497.13 Peter Glasier CA Canada2002 26 1092 495.32 Gary Burke Simcoe ON Canada98 27 1092 495.32 Dennis Dagle Windsor NS Canada2002 28 1090 494.41 Mike Fisher 2002 29 1083.50 491.46 Jerold Johnson Anamosa USA 2002 30 1076.50 488.28 Quin Werner 2002 31 1075 487.60 Scott Daletas Pleasnt Hill OR USA 2001 32 1074 487.15 Calai 2002 33 1066 483.52 Jack Vezzolo Elk Grove CA USA 2002 34 1064 482.61 Jack LaRue Tenino WA USA 2002 35 1062 481.71 Rock Rivard St Etienne QC Canada2001 36 1061.50 481.48 Tony Ciliberto Wilkes-Barre PA USA 2001 37 1061 481.25 Paula & Nathan Zehr LOWVILLE NY USA 96 38 1061 481.25 Joe Pukos Leicster NY USA 2001 39 1058 479.89 Craig Sandvik Central Market BC Canada2002 40 1056.50 479.21 Bob Ruff Anamosa USA 2002 41 1056 478.99 Leonard B. If you have any other needs please feel free to post for Clarification at any time. Regards, Morningstar Request for Answer Clarification by brudenell-ga on 10 Nov 2002 16:45 PST Morningstar2000-ga As you can no doubt tell I am new to this service. What I thought was a simple, easily obtainable answer by an experienced 'Researcher' turned out to be something different. We all can learn... My thoughts of the subject were revised after the 'Comments' posting by sidegrinder-ga. You can easily see that had I accepted that sidegrinder-ga's comments educated me sufficiently that the simple answer I had originally sought was elusive and that sidegrinder-ga was invited by me to post as an acceptable answer. There must be a way for an experienced 'Researcher' to post an 'Answer' or 'Comment' to advise that the question will necessitate more work than the 'Questioner' expects by the fee offered. GA has been around for over a year, a neophite like me has only been here for a week. _______________________________________________________________________________ Should I have approached the process differently? I appreciate your assistance Brudenell

  • Hi again brudenell~ It looks like you made every effort to make sure the researcher knew your needs :) Now it's up to you to decide just how satisfied you are. Helpful critiques are never out of place...and, as the old saying goes, the customer is always right! kriswrite
