Specifically speaking, I'm talking about alto sax. I play tenor sax right now in my school's band but i really want to be section leader next year so I think knowing that would increase my chances.
Could anyone just tell me how its different that Bb or how to transpose or anything helpful? Thanks! The fingerings are the same, so your technical skill will carry over. However, the instruments are pitched differently: a C on a tenor is a Concert pitch B-flat, whereas a C on a alto sax is a concert pitch E-flat (it's a confusing concept at first, but it gets easier with experience). Thus, you would need to transpose the music.
I've never been very good at transposing, so there's not a lot I can help with there, but Wikipedia is always a good place to start looking for more resources. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transpositi...#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
