[fixed] Edit options in profile - no submission

  • BUG report

Edit options in member profile and hitting the submit button does nothing, probably just a html code problem with the tag

  • seriously still doesn't work for me :(

  • This is weird because I am using the same Browser version as he is and the buttons work fine for me here.

  • The get/post method option for a form just defines how form data should be sent to the 'action' page - in the simplest terms, 'get' will call a page called thingy.php?variable=x while 'post' will call the same page, but the ?variable=x (query string) part of the URI will be submitted directly to the page, rather than being appended to the address of the page...

Well that was a crappy description, and it doesn't say what get/post ~really~ does behind the scenes, but suffice to say that the main difference the user will notice is that when they submit a form via 'post' they will be warned when they try to go back to the form page...

But it doesn't affect page layout at all.

hope you changed it to POST for me :)

  • okay not sure if i found the problem

when i went to view the source code on vbulletin.org's edit option page i see the form uses

but on vbulletin.com the edit option page uses

i don't know much about forms so i hope this helps

update: the profile page which works for me on this forum uses POST rather than get - so i think this could be the problem ?

  • well edit option submit button works on vbulletin.org site, and not this - so it ain't my browser i am afraid

  • bump.......

  • Worked for me...

Hmmm... What browser are you using Eva?

  • Oh yeah, I forgot that limitation ;)

  • Hmmm.

I changed it delierately to get so that people with cookie problems could log in and change their profile settings for browsing the boards with/without cookies on. I think that the best solution will just be to move the signature field to the edit profile screen rather than edit options screen.

  • pretty sure it should use post so that is probably it.

  • I didn't have the problem, FWIW.

  • Works for me too
    IE 5.00

  • i shortened my sig by 2 lines and it works... but still as Ed said POST should fix that :D
