Disability Discrimination Act & Housing Benefit?

  • Is it against the DDA for a landlord to refuse an applicant who is in receipt of Housing Benefits (because they are unable to work due to their disability)?

  • A landlord can refuse ANYONE- even if they meeting the credit reference agencies checks/

  • No a Landlord can choose who he wants as a tenant there is no law to stop him

  • If you could demonstrate that the refusal was based on your disability and nothing else... then possibly.

  • No. A landlord can refuse anyone who doesn't pay their own rent.

  • As I previously answered in your other similar question.

Housing Benefits are also awarded to people on LOW income. Not just people who are claiming it for disability reasons.

It is not a direct discrimination.
