Atheists, isn't this section for those who believe in something as opposed to nothing? Just wondering?

  • Only asking to make sense of the inordinate amount gathering in here. Is it a case of (inner) misery loves company?.....

  • An Atheist is one who does not believe in a God. Not someone who believes in nothing, that is a Nihilist.

  • *drink*

No, this place is for discussing religion, not following it.

And I'll admit, my main reason to be here is for escapism. I'm depressed. Sue me.

  • No, this is a place where people ask questions about religion (and/or spirituality), and other people answer those questions.

It's not a meeting place for Christians.

  • I think it is more of a case of a growing segment of the population finally becoming tired at having others force their beliefs into our lives.

  • This is a place to discuss and ask questions about religion and that's what we're doing.

I'm also quite happy and comfortable being an atheist - thanks for asking.

  • No, this is the place to ask, answer and discuss those issues.
One need not believe in any particular thing in order to be here and participate. And atheists do not believe in god. There are many other "things" besides god that they may or may not believe in.

  • Funny.... I don't see "This section is for those who believe in something as opposed to nothing" at the top of my page.

It's says "Religion & Spirituality". This is a Q&A forum. Anyone with questions or answers about Religion and or Spirituality can answer here. Deal with it.

  • but theists believe in nothing.

  • I am here to spread the gospel of rationality and common sense and stamp out religious nitwittery!

  • Oh! is it time for a

    *D R I N K*

    already?

have a star for wording this question slightly differently.

  • oi...how many times is this going to have to be explained?!?!?!

Listen, the section is called Religion and SPIRITUALITY. You can be atheist and still be spiritual. Buddhism for instance...

*sigh* I can't believe the ignorance in here some days.

  • The opinion that god does not exist is a matter of religious debate.

Perhaps you would care to suggest a different section where the non-existence of god can be discussed... Pets? Gardening?? Car Maintenance???

That makes 10,799 times this question has been asked

And why are so many religionists so keen to find misery in others just because they don't share the same pathetic delusions as themselves?

  • This section
    # Society & Culture >
    # Religion & Spirituality >
is designed to discuss matters of THIS society and we are part of it whether you like it or not.

  • This section is for the discussion of Religion and Spirituality. You don't need to be religious or spiritual to discuss the subject.

  • Is that why Christians gather in Church?

  • We still have spirit

  • The Bible says otherwise.

    # Isaiah 55:8
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD.

    # Isaiah 55:9
"As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

  • We believe in lots of things - things that matter. We just don't believe in God.

  • I'm curious how ignorant and delusional people view the world. Good thing I'm not a cat.

  • my atheism hasn't brought me any misery, thank you. i think most of us are very happy with it.

as for being here, we all have different reasons and this IS a drinking question.

  • I see the label synonymous with "Delusional and ignorant people in need of counseling". I figure they can't afford a counselor so I am providing a public service.

  • I believe in computers. Therefore I believe in something. Please continue trolling elsewhere.

  • Oh, so only cats can visit the 'Cats' section, because theyre the only ones who are cats?

You better go and tell their human owners that they are not fit for the Cats section, then, even though they probably want to discuss their cats....

    *drink*

  • "Atheism" does not mean one has *no* beliefs, and "religion" is not a synonym for "theism". Thus, your questions is simply nonsense.

  • *Yawns* We ask questions. If your beliefs can't stand up to questioning, that's your problem. Deal with it.

And religion affects our lives whether we're members of it or not. Same as US politics affects my life even though I live in Scotland. Seriously, is this too complex a concept for you to grasp or something?

  • *drink*

We're discussing religion and spirituality. Problem with that?

  • Atheists still believe. They believe that there is no God.

  • See the many other answers to the many other questions like this.

  • They are merely confirming that atheistic beliefs do constitute as religious beliefs.

  • If it weren't for religion, there would be no atheists.

We're the kids you don't like to talk about.

And it's a free internet. So here I am. If you don't like it, tough.
