Has anyone about a 2yo Thoroughbred filly that gave birth to a foal?
Has anyone about a 2yo Thoroughbred filly that gave birth to a foal?
I forgot her name but when her trainer drove up to the barn, he saw a group of people standing around her stall. I didn't know fillies could give birth at that age!Additional Details
sorry i forgot to put in heard. I know this isn't the case you were thinking of, it's a different one: http://www.thoroughbredtimes.com/nationa...I think this is the one you're thinking of: http://www.bloodhorse.com/article/46714/...
It's very unusual for a 2-year-old to give birth for the simple reason that nobody in their right mind would think of breeding a yearling filly! They can be coming into heat late in their yearling year, although they don't always have a follicle or ovulate at that age. Usually when a filly gives birth as a 2-year-old it's because someone kept her in the pasture with colts (fillies and colts are usually kept seperately after they become yearlings) just a little too long. Well there are many STUPID people around every where
I had a costumer come to me after they bought a horse from a sell They thought she just had a Pot belly Since she was so starved
She was less then a yr old and gave birth and it died ,, Go figure ,,
It was not there fault .. so what do we do about this
?????
