Asera Inc., a leading provider of adaptive eBusiness solutions, Thursday (Nov 16) announced that Ray Lane, general partner at Kleiner Perkins and former president of Oracle Corporation, has joined the Asera board of directors.
Lane, who left Oracle in July after eight successful years as president and COO, joins an already formidable Asera board, including Vinod Khosla, Asera co-founder and general partner of Kleiner Perkins; Warren Weiss, president and CEO of Asera; Janpieter Scheerder, president of Network Storage at Sun Microsystems; Pete Solvik, senior VP and CIO of Cisco Systems; and Ernest von Simson and Naomi Seligman, co-founders of the Research Board Inc.

Earlier this week, Asera announced two major customer wins: BP Chemicals, a division of BP (NYSE:BP), and Stinnes Interfer AG, one of Germany's largest independent steel and raw materials distributors and a division of Stinnes AG. Asera also announced a new release of its leading adaptive eBusiness platform including open APIs for third-party application development, and portal and globalization enhancements.

In less than one year of selling adaptive eBusiness solutions, Asera has signed more than 26 customers including enterprise companies like Cadence, Wyse and Extreme Networks. In August, the company completed a third round of Series C funding totaling $115 million from leading technology companies including Cisco Systems, Nortel Networks, SAP and Siemens as well as blue chip venture capital firms Kleiner Perkins and Bowman Capital.
