RealNetworks Inks Deal with the NBA
Under the deal, RealNetworks will provide live streaming video feeds of NBA.com TV, the league's 24-hour digital television network, and NBA.com Audio League Pass, a package of exclusive home and away audio feeds of every NBA game.
The real significance of this deal is that both offerings will be available through RealPlayer GoldPass, the RealNetworks paid service launched late last Summer.
Looks like the streaming company has found itself a generator of revenue stream that is on the increase.
In fact, the company released figures today indicating that the number of paying subscribers signed up for the RealPlayer GoldPass service has now surpassed 150,000.
RealPlayer GoldPass combines audio and video content, software and games, and advanced services for consumers. The service was launched in August 2000.
In other RealNetwork news, seattle.internet.com has learned that Real Conference 2001 will be held at the Washington State Convention & Trade Center in Seattle, September 24-26, 2001.
