Empty apartment and these?

  • hi. i'm in small apartment building. there is a apartment next to me and it is empty. now the manager is trying to clean it but leaves the door open!!!! now these strange teens, men, hookers, boys, etc. go there when the manager leaves for the day! they have parties there, stay all day and night, look strange at people, cat call people walking the street, are VERY VERY Loud, swear a lot, stay at late night and play loud music, do their drugs, make a mess, litter on the building grounds, graffite, etc. what should I do? i tried to tell police but they always leave and then come back! this is no joke. thank you!

  • Tell the landlord, and demand that the police come and stay until they arrive again.
Tell the landload and the police the specific times they usually show up and DEMAND something be done about it or you leave!
Tell him you are moving out and you HAD ENOUGH of this ****.
No one should have to listen and deal with that crap, and especialy someone who pays rent!
    Good luck!

  • Start videotaping them (if you can do it somewhat safely) they don't live there and don't have an expectation of privacy. Then keep calling the cops and your landlord. Talk to anyone else around you and make a pact to talk to the police and landlord. There is power in numbers.

If that doesn't work, take your landlord to court for not providing you with a safe environment if that is part of your lease and you will have the videotape to support your claim.

  • If you called the police and no one is listening then put a padlock on the door and lock it up. If the manager complains tell him to get over it.

  • Keep telling the manager and calling the cops and don't stop.

Either side will be frustrated enough to end it. The cops have to come out for every call, and the manager will get annoyed to a point where he does something about it.

  • do you recognize anyone? if so, you should report it to the landlord or keep calling the popo, they will eventually do something. by the way, what area do you live in?

  • I would suggest calling the police...but if that doesn't work, maybe you should just tell the apartment manager? I'm sure they don't want people squatting in the empty apartment either....maybe they'll start keeping the door locked?

  • You can take the landlord to housing court for not providing a safe, livable environment.

  • Is there only a deadbolt or can you lock the door on the knob and then close it?

  • if calling the police doesn't work go tp the police station and make sure they understand how dangerous the situation is. sometimes the urgency can get lost between the 911 operator and the police. and make sure you give the police the landlords contact info....

  • Tell the manager to LOCK THE DOOR, simple
